'Letter to a Cycad' is a visual homage to the historic Palmhouse in Copenhagen, and a reflection on the evolution of plants and our human impact on the planet. Using a fictional voice of the late botanist Frederik Liebmann (1813-1856) who found and described the cycad species Dioon edule, the oldest specimen in the Palmhouse, the film explores life histories and the current biodiversity crisis.
In a first-of-its-kind Polo collaboration, Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Romain Collin was asked to, quite literally, make music with Ralph Lauren clothing. Empathy, efficiency, and a willingness to adapt – Kai Lin’s KLIPPA prosthetic foot is inspired by mountain goats and a desire to help people. Kai’s story explores his unlikely alliance with Arc’teryx athlete, Craig DeMartino, from which the pair serve up a holy grail for adaptive rock climbers – a badass prosthetic foot, that won’t just level the playing field, but will dish up, if not superpowers, then a real sense of empowerment. Which is almost the same thing.
The woman and the man are in a room, a gecko sits in a terrarium, several flies are circling a lamp. Gradually we find more and more dependencies and analogies between their activities and observed elements as the rhythm of their universes accelerates. The microcosms shown seem to interact rhythmically and belong to some cosmic order.
