Toast 2 is the triumphant follow-up to 2015’s tour de force on the culture of makernistas. Watch the original film here: https://vimeo.com/152218119

For every giant leap forward, there are baby leaps backward. For every thumbs up, a middle finger. Middle fingers can stop you or you can use them as kindling. Kindling that starts a powerful fire. And the longer that fire endures, the smell of burning middle fingers gives way to something far sweeter – the smell of victory. This is the story of that smell.
Francesco and Giorgio, aka Montanus, decided to dedicate a video-tribute to the land where
they were born and still live, celebrating the magnificent mountains where their desire to
explore the wilderness has grown.
‘Home Wild Home’ is the latest film by Montanus, but it doesn’t tell of an expedition in a remote land
like those they made in Patagonia and Iceland. Montanus duo created a sort of tribute in honor of their
own land, filming the backyard trails that link their hometown L’Aquila, in central Italy, with the
massif of Gran Sasso d’Italia, where highest peaks of Apennine mountains are located. In this mountain
enviromental they started appreciating wilderness and developing the outdoor skills that has allowed
them to travel and explore remote and wild lands. ‘Home Wild Home’ is more than a bikepacking film,
it’s a sign of gratitude to their own land and an encouragement to the recovery of L’Aquila, hit by a
devastating earthquake 10 years ago.
A city portrait of Cairo during heavy rain and little shine. The weather is a metaphor to the chaos my underprepared city and its dwellers have to experience when the “unexpected” happens, in contrast to the usual chaos that is the city itself.
A short film by Diego Berakha Otal
Original Spanish version vimeo.com/685320983?share=copy

"Now I Know Where to Find you" is a story about my childhood in Spain and the trip I made to Argentina when I was 12 years old. One day I decided that I wanted to live with my father. I missed him too much. 10,000 km later a whole new life began for me, but my childhood memories didn't fade away. And, of all these memories, the memory of my yaya (grandmother) was always vivid. She raised me as if I was her own son, when none of my parents were ready to do that.

The story stems from a unique discovery that I made while wandering around with Google Maps. This discovery was so moving that I felt the need to tell the story, my story.
Mark Waring and Anna Mantzaris, have collaborated on a whimsical yet beautifully crafted short for Honest Tea. Encouraging people to look at the impact of the decisions we make every day, the film shows how small actions can add up to big, impactful, inspiring things. Animated in stop motion, the film captures the lush textures and tactile surfaces of a handmade world. To match the natural ethos of Honest, the sets and puppets are all made of natural things – felt, card, paper, wool, cotton and wood. The film places a Mom at the centre of the story and shows all of the big (and positive) impacts her choice of Honest Tea can have from reducing sugar in her children’s diet to the farmers getting a fair wage for the ingredients that Honest use.

A complex construction site, New York’s skyline in the distance, and fresh betrayal. Stane is in charge on-site, soon to inherit the family business from her father, who built it up as a Croatian immigrant also building the American dream. But Stane’s marriage is under threat of demolition. What ensues is a public reckoning between traditional, patriarchal expectations made upon wives versus Stane’s own pain and anger. But Stane is building her own life story though — outside of the permission of men.

"Stane", a film by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović, is the 26th commission from Miu Miu Women’s Tales. The acclaimed short-film series invites today’s most profound and original female directors to investigate vanity and femininity in the 21st century.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović (b.1985) is a Dubrovnik-born and New York based Croatian and American screenwriter and filmmaker. “What does it mean to ‘give women power’ and ‘put women in power’?” says Kusijanovic. “I constantly hear it and I’m conflicted about that expression — power that is ‘given’ then also can be ‘taken’ away.” "Stane" reflects Kusijanović’s belief that, “sensuality needs to breathe through everything.” Although all her films, including this latest episode for Miu Miu Women’s Tales, invariably deal with the plight of women, Kusijanović admits that she never thinks first, “through politics or social message. I always start from character.” And from there the “issues of the world naturally emerge.”
"Stane" ’s themes are specific to her own culture but also universal: the sacrifices women must make to uphold the fabric of society; the familial frictions felt between generations of immigrants; cultural norms and private disquiet; the asymmetry of honour and dishonour between genders.
